Midtjylland v Liverpool, Betting Preview & Prediction

Midtjylland are without a win in their 5 games getting just 1 point and they are guaranteed to finish bottom of Group D.  Liverpool on the other hand have had 4 wins and a loss in their 5 games and are certain to finish top.

Midtjylland’s 2 home games have seen them lose 2-1 to Ajax and 4-0 to Atalanta although in the qualification stages they had convincing victories over Slavia Prague and Young Boys both by 3-0 margins.

Liverpool have yet to concede on the road in their 2 Champions League matches beating Atalanta 5-0 and Ajax 1-0 and they were rampant in the League on the weekend beating Wolves 4-0 at home.

Midtjylland 12/5

Draw 28/10

Liverpool 21/20

Suggested Bet:  The draw at 28/10

The first thing that might surprise you about this bet is that the fact that the draw is as short as 28/10.  This is due to the fact that Liverpool have nothing to play for and will no doubt rest key players for the match.  This may allow Midtjylland in to grab a point.

Other markets of interest to me would be under 2.5 goals at 12/10.

RB Leipzig v PSG, Champions League Semi-Final Betting Preview & Prediction

The first of the Champions League Semi-Finals takes place on Tuesday night at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon and we should be in for a thrilling game.

RB Leipzig booked their place in the last 4 with a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid last week.  Atletico Madrid started favourites to win the game, but RB Leipzig were full value for the win and in their last 7 European matches they won 5 and drawn 2 and 5 of those 7 games would have delivered for over 2.5 goal backers.  In the Round of 16 Leipzig came up against Tottenham and had few problems seeing them off 4-0 on aggregate.

PSG were firm favourites to beat Atalanta in their quarter-final match, but they had to come from behind to win the game 2-1.  They had previously seen off Dortmund 3-2 on aggregate over 2 legs and in the group stages they won 5 and drew 1 match and that was against Real Madrid.  PSG has scored in every one of their European fixtures this season and over 2.5 goals would have arrived in 7 of their 9 matches.

These sides have never met in a competitive match, but they did play a friendly back in 2014 with Leipzig winning 4-2.  Both sides are bidding to reach their first ever Champions League Final.

RB Leipzig 63/20

Draw 59/20

PSG 8/10

Suggested Bet:  Matchbet + Totals, over 2.5 goals and PSG to win at 5/4

Both of these sides play an attacking brand of football and while I think that PSG will win it I am confident that Leipzig can also get on the score sheet.  I was looking at over 2.5 goals, but at 11/20 it is a bit short for me and I am going to throw in the fact that PSG are going to win the match to boost the price.

Barcelona v Bayern Munich, Champions League Quarter-Final Betting Preview & Prediction

Friday night sees the clash of the heavy weights when Bayern Munich and Barcelona take each other on in Lisbon in a Champions League Quarter-Final match.  We take a look at the game from a betting angle.

Barcelona finished the job against Napoli last week when they beat them 3-1 at home to wrap up a 4-2 aggregate success.  They were undefeated in the Group Stages, winning 4 and drawing 2 matches and although much has been made of their shaky League form towards the end of the season they have won 4 and lost 1 of their last 5 League games.  Both teams have found the back of the net in Barcelona’s last 4 Champions League matches.

Bayern Munich were too strong for Chelsea in the last 16, winning 7-1 on aggregate including beating them 4-1 at home last week.  They have a 100% record in the Champions League this season and have only failed to score 3 goals on one occasion.  They have been untouchable in the last few months and they have won 19 consecutive matches in all competitions.

These sides last met in the Champions League in 2014/2015 season, they met in 2 legs in the semi-final and Barcelona progressed 5-3 on aggregate.

Barcelona 49/20

Draw 57/20

Bayern Munich 1/1

Suggested Bet:  Bayern Munich win at 1/1

Bayer Munich just seem to be in a class of their own at the moment and all doesn’t seem well in the Barcelona camp.  This should be a great clash to watch with plenty of goals, but I suspect most of them will be scored by the Germans.

BET:  Goals away team, 3 or more at 23/10

Although this is at a neutral venue Bayern Munich are shown as the away team in the betting and I am backing them to continue their run of scoring 3 goals or more in Europe.

JUVENTUS v LYON – Click here to bet

This tie is interestingly poised after Lyon won 1-0 at home back on the 26th of February.

Juventus won all 3 of their home matches in the Group Stages including a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid, but their recent League form has been quite poor by their standards.  Lyon will need to improve on their Group Stage away form which saw them lose 2 and win 1 of their 3 matches and the last time Lyon visited Juventus was in 2016 when they drew 1-1.

Juventus 9/20

Draw 71/20

Lyon 6/1

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Lyon (+1) at 7/4

Juventus certainly have the pedigree, but I don’t think they are playing that well and believe Lyon can take something from this and in so doing book themselves a quarter-final spot.

Manchester City are in the box seat having beaten Real Madrid 2-1 on the road back in February.  They were a bit hit and miss in the League by their standards after the return to action following the COVID-19 break, but their home form could not be faulted and they had some big wins including a 4-0 victory over champions, Liverpool.

Real Madrid won 2 and lost 1 of their 3 away matches in the Group Stages and their recent away form in the League was solid with a draw in their last start and prior to that had 4 victories by exactly 1 goal margins.

Manchester City 7/10

Draw 33/10

Real Madrid 67/20

Suggested Bet:  Under 2.5 goals at 15/10

Bookmakers are expecting a high scoring game, but I am not so certain as City have been very strong at the back and I expect them to adopt a fairly cautious approach as they look to frustrate Real Madrid.
